Background

Called to the Bar in 2008, Paul specialises in criminal law, family law (primarily parenting matters) and immigration law. He has appeared a wide ambit of matters at trial and appellate level, as well as sentencing hearings. Paul accepts briefs from law firms and direct briefs from clients in appropriate matters.

With a truly national practice, Paul has appeared in the Supreme, District and Local Courts of most Australian States. He regularly appears in the Federal Circuit and Family Court of Australia, the Federal Court of Australia and various tribunals including the Administrative Appeals Tribunal and the NSW Civil and Administrative Tribunal (NCAT).

Paul’s experience also extends to appearances in inquiries such as the Independent Commission Against Corruption (ICAC) and in legal aid matters. In the sphere of his criminal law practice, Paul has developed significant experience in both judge and jury trials and he deploys effective advocacy and cross-examination skills to achieve the best possible outcomes for his clients. Paul’s migration practice sees him often appearing in appellate matters that are often complex and technically difficult. In such matters, he draws on his analytical skillset and forensic abilities to achieve the best possible results for his clients.

Paul is the Secretary of the Australian Drug Law Reform Foundation and holds a Master of Laws, as well as a Bachelor of Laws and Bachelor of Arts.
